America’s Largest Steam Locomotive is Coming to Tioga County on it’s historic coast-to-coast to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday!
Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 is embarking on a 2026 coast-to-coast tour to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and Tioga County, NY is on the schedule! Big Boy will be traveling through the county starting with a pass through in Waverly, NY and then stopping in Owego, NY for a 15-30 minute “Whistle Stop” at The Turn, a restaurant that is housed in the historic Erie Railroad Depot. The Village of Owego is expecting large crowds, so we will be posting information here on how to navigate the area around the “Whistle Stop” location, where to see the train in motion along the Tioga County leg of the tour, places to stay and other information to help you plan for this historic event!
