Owego is a small town located on the Susquehanna River. The name is derived from the Iroquois word Ahwaga, meaning where the valley widens. The town was first settled around 1786 and is one of the earliest colonial settlements in the region. Owego is a wonderful place to visit. The Village of Owego shopping district is packed with unique shops and restaurants. You can stroll through parks and admire the scenic beauty and wildlife of the river on the Owego Riverwalk.
