Where to Shop to Bring the Holiday Spirit Home
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
If you’re getting ready to decorate your home, we’ve looked around and found some great items to get your home in the holiday spirit!
Farmer Brown’s Holiday Marketplace in Apalachin is a great place to start off the season! They have fresh-cut trees, beautiful poinsettias, fresh wreaths and gift baskets for gardeners and birders. On the weekend, the atmosphere turns Hallmark Holiday, with wood fires, music and food trucks. Adding to the charm is the on-site shop Rusty and Jewel. This store is set in two silos that are filled with American made and repurposed products with a vintage, antique-y vibe like jewelry, purses and home décor. We love the poinsettia necklace for decorating the most important thing for the holidays…yourself!
You can also get Christmas Trees at Route 96 Power and Paddle in Candor. They have pre-cut and cut-your-own trees of various varieties. They have a baler, drill, saws and staff to help you through from start to finish.
Once you have the perfect tree, it’s time to decorate it! You probably know someone (or are someone) who will appreciate these mercury-glass ornaments to commemorate 2020 from Katie’s Kreations. Katie’s also has ornaments that are customized for different communities in the area and some vintage fabric ones that won’t break when your cat tries to pull them down! We also found fun puzzle-piece Owego ornaments made by a local artist at Black Cat Gallery.
Blue Bag Boutique in Waverly has adorable gnomes and other Christmas decorations, plus some great holiday t-shirts and kids clothing to get everyone in the holiday spirit! Lambert’s Attic has two locations in Northern Tioga County (Newark Valley and Richford) with country Christmas items. You can cozy up your home with holiday pillows, blankets and decorations at Hygge Home in Owego, including holiday gifts for pet lovers! Set your table with Christmas cheer with dishes and mugs from Mystic Moon in Owego. And we LOVE the shabby-chic, French-inspired holiday adornments at The Left Bank.
You’ll find a lot more to decorate your home around Tioga County, N.Y., where you can make memories while you shop. Be safe and have fun! You can find more places to shop here.
