NE Primitive Rendezvous

July 17 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until July 18, 2021

On July 17th and 18th, visitors to this primitive rendezvous will travel back in time with re-enactors interpreting trappers that have endured solitary life in the wilderness for a year or more and are venturing into civilization to sell their furs, celebrate, purchase supplies and enjoy all-out revelry. You will smell smoke from freshly cooked campfire delicacies such as meats, bread, and soups and see demonstrations of making 18th century soaps, clothing, hide tanning, candles, and blacksmithing. Hear flint striking steel and the flintlock roar, see a spark roll down a frizzen, and smell the pungent smoke that belches from a muzzleloader.

Walk among primitive dressed folk as they carry on 18th-century activities. See camps set up with primitive tents, cooking gear, bedding, and primitive household wares. Sutlers (shopkeepers) will hawk their handmade 18th-century goods. Spinning wheels will sing as they produce yarn. Steel will ring and smoke will puff as the blacksmith hammers out primitive nails, silverware, and cooking accessories.
Tired of the twenty-first century? Prepare yourself for an eighteenth-century spectacle that will educate, inform, demonstrate, and take you back over 200 years.
