See the first National display of Andrew Burgess’ Carte De Viste album images. Tioga County Historical Society Researchers and the Town of Owego Historian reveal in a multimedia presentation over 130 never before seen images (scanned in hi-res) brought to Owego by Mathew Brady associate, Andrew Burgess. It is believed that the museum’s collection of Carte De Viste and Cabinet Card photos have never before been viewed publicly. Research on these images and from former Ansco Binghamton/Vestal employees have sparked questions about historical accounts in prestigious national publications. This reveal is part one and will discuss the phenomenon of Cartomania, a Victorian obsession with “selfies.” It will revisit some of what we know about Owego and Tioga residents Andrew Burgess and Eudora Tiffany Burgess, and Mathew Brady’s relations with Ansco Binghamton, and the Brady Treasures from 333 Front Street in Owego in hi-res digital format.
